A Transit needs a commercial tyre with a C designation and a load index calculated for the vehicle at its maximum authorised mass, not at kerb weight. Fitting a passenger-car tyre in the same nominal size is an MOT failure, and on a loaded van it is a genuine failure risk rather than a technicality.

Transit rear tyres also wear far faster than fronts when the van runs loaded, so a matched set of four rarely stays matched. Checking all four rather than just the one that failed usually saves a second callout.

Performance Fiestas and Focuses run short sidewalls on large wheels, and in urban use they collect kerb and pothole damage constantly. A sidewall bulge on one of these is not repairable - it indicates the casing plies have already separated internally.
